Some sites of interest.
Local Blog
One of many Hill blogs. This is one of the better ones. If you are unfamiliar with the area this gives you some idea what it is like to live on the Hill.
Kingman Lake
An undiscovered natural treasure just a short walk from your apartment. Turtles and beavers and herons, oh my!
Greg's tip. Don't join any of their tours. Just go and walk about at your own pace.
Barracks Row
Many new restaurants plus old favorites
Greg's tip. Just off of Barracks Row is my all time favorite DC restaurant. Mr. Henry's. Average bar food. Service is so-so. But the history and ambience draws me back time and time again. Step inside a time capsule. Roberta Flack started her career there. Jazz room upstairs is still active with good talent weekly.
Eastern Market

An institution
Greg's tip. Go to look, not buy. High quality meat, fish and produce, but expensive! The real draw is the outside artisan stalls. Nice place to take your out of town guests for window shopping.
The Hill Cafe
Cute coffee shop at 15th and A streets NE, just 4 blocks away. Coffee. Sandwiches. Internet.
Greg's tip. Great little coffee shop. Could use a physical makeover. Oversized breakfast platters. Nice staff. Get the salmon bagel sandwich!
The Pretzel Bakery
https://www.thepretzelbakery.com/
Busy place! Just 3 blocks away. Outdoor seating.
Greg's tip. Nice place but the service is awful during busy times. Order ahead. Simple pretzel based selections. Get the breakfast sliders.
